The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is seeking public input on the use of electric-assisted bikes and other electric micro-mobility devices in state parks. The department is currently conducting an online survey, with responses accepted until August 31.

Currently, e-bikes are permitted on bicycle trails that are 8 feet or wider unless signs indicate otherwise at Oregon State Parks, as well as on beaches where motor vehicles are allowed. The department has noted a rise in e-bike usage within these areas.
In response to this growing trend, the Oregon Legislature recently implemented a 3-class certification system for e-bikes, categorizing them based on motor type, level of electric assistance, and speed capabilities. OPRD is now planning to update its e-bike regulations to align with these new classifications.
