Perdue Foods is pulling approximately 167,000 pounds of its frozen, ready-to-eat chicken nuggets off the shelves due to contamination concerns. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the recall after consumers reported finding small pieces of metal wire in their meals.

The affected products include 5-pound bags of Perdue's "Chicken Breast Nuggets with Whole Grain" and 1.25-pound packages marketed as "Great Value Chicken Breast Nuggets with Whole Grain," a brand associated with Walmart. Both were produced on June 16, 2024, and bear the establishment number "P-33944" inside the USDA mark of inspection.
While no injuries have been reported, the company and the USDA are urging consumers to check their freezers and avoid consuming these products. If you discover these nuggets in your freezer, you are advised to either dispose of them or return them to the store where purchased for a full refund.
This recall highlights the importance of food safety, as foreign objects in food can pose serious health risks. Perdue is cooperating with the USDA to ensure that all affected products are removed from the market.
For more information, consumers can contact Perdue's consumer relations team at 866-866-3703 or visit the USDA’s website.
