Market pulse: Traders slam Susie Wiles exit odds to near certainty as Miller takes over (Nov. 6)

Quick Read
On Kalshi, the contract that Susie Wiles leaves as White House chief of staff before 2027 jumped from about 47% yesterday to about 99.9% after Friday's shake-up.
President Trump named deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller as the 33rd White House chief of staff; Wiles said Friday was her last day and will move to Trump's political operation.
About $1.7 million in contracts traded on the Wiles Kalshi market in 24 hours. Polymarket showed a similar swing, from about 42% to nearly 100%.

Three days after Republicans lost the House and Senate, prediction-market traders treated the first big White House staffing move as a done deal. The crowd that had been roughly split on whether Susie Wiles would leave before 2027 slammed the price to the ceiling once the announcement landed.
What moved
Kalshi's market on Wiles leaving as chief of staff before 2027 closed Thursday around 47 cents on the dollar. By Friday afternoon it was trading at about 99.9 cents, with more than 1.7 million contracts changing hands in 24 hours and more than 2.1 million over the life of the market. Polymarket's matching contract made a similar move, from about 42% to nearly 100%.
Kalshi marked the outcome as having occurred Friday afternoon Eastern time. The market stays open until early 2027 under its rules, but traders are already pricing a near-certain Yes.
What happened in Washington
President Trump announced Friday that Stephen Miller will become the 33rd White House chief of staff, succeeding Wiles, according to a White House release. Miller, previously deputy chief of staff for policy and homeland security adviser, takes over Monday.
The Associated Press reported that Wiles gave Trump her resignation Thursday night. CNBC and the BBC said the move follows the GOP's midterm losses in both chambers. Trump wrote that Wiles "will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation." Wiles posted that Friday was her last day as chief of staff.
A related quirk on Kalshi
On the same Kalshi event board, the contract that Stephen Miller leaves as deputy chief of staff before 2027 jumped from about 31% to about 96%. That is the flip side of a promotion: leaving the deputy title to take the top job can still settle the "leaves that role" contract Yes. Hegseth's leave-before-2027 price eased a bit, and Rubio's continued to unwind after earlier rumor spikes.
This is a market, not a forecast
A 99.9% price means traders think there is almost no chance Wiles returns to the chief of staff job under the market's rules. It is not a forecast about Miller's tenure, Democratic strategy in the new Congress, or any other Cabinet move. Prices can still move if definitions are disputed; Kalshi pays when its settlement rules say the person has left the named role.
